32-bit RDRAM is available...is
your motherboard compatible with it?
some customers have called
and voiced they were having problems with 32-bit modules in their boards. others
stating their motherboard will not run their PC1066 at PC1066 speeds, defaulting
to PC800.
most likely a compatibility
issue, that must be addressed by the manufacturer of your motherboard. with
the i850, it is usually just a matter of updating your BIOS.
Although PC1066
is available, currently Intel's i850 chipset (i850e) does not "officially"
support this Spec. in some cases when using PC1066 in a Intel i850 chipset
motherboard you may receive a message at boot, saying something to the effect
of;
"... Serial Presence
Detect (SPD) is reporting that PC1066 is installed. PC1066 is not a validated
memory speed. Do you wish to attempt to boot PC1066? (Y/N) Press [Y] to continue
or [N] to shutdown ..."
if unsuccessful, the board
will usually set PC800 timings on reboot. Official validation for PC1066 is
expected near Oct. '02 with the I850E chipset. a visit to Intel's
site, you will quickly notice only PC800 in listed RDRAM, and validated modules.
